Which sheath for Jackhammer?

Hi!

I scored a Jackhammer on recent Ganza and now I wonder which sheath fits Jackhammer.

At first I would like to explore "fabric-manufactured" sheaths and if I don't find anything that pleases me I'll start to look for "custom" sheaths, but NO leather. Nylon or kydex are prefered.

Any tips?

I would like to avoid Okuden because I don't want to send the knife back overseas just for a sheath.
Okuden is last resort.

oku is likely to have a Jack in house that he could use to make you a sheath, therefore you wouldn't have to send it back. I would check with Brian to see if he has one now.

You can also check with Steelnut or Dave Brown. Both great Kydex benders. Pretty sure they have JackHammers in house for sheath making...

I have one on order with Steelnut right now. Drop leg w/ Firesteel!

I grabbed a kydex SJTAC sheath from Okuden at Blade, fit's like a charm. So that's always an option, a SJTAC sheath.

He's completed some JH kydex last week, he's holding my sheaths till he get the SARsquatch sheaths done, so I haven't seen the JH sheaths or how they differ from the SJTAC sheaths.

There's always Spec Ops.

Chances are that one of the kydex folders on the forums got ahold of, or will be getting a JackHammer soon. Even if they didn't purchase one for their personal collection, someone will send one in for a sheath to be made. Although there are slight variations knife to knife, even among the production blades, you should be able to achieve a pro fit with a hairdryer or heat gun.

I don't really know anything about SpecOps (kydex insert in nylon sheath) type sheaths. There are several threads on them on the forums, and I'll be reading up on them soon because I'll be getting one for my JackHammer, whose destiny includes riding in my car in the heat.

Steelnut, you say? The "puppyman"?:D
I have had contact with him some time ago...I could write to him and check out if he can make a little "different" kydex sheath...

Hmmm...how secure is a knife in that one-size-fits-all sheath??

I suppose I could write to Okuden/Brian and ask...Yes, I'll do that too...

Thanks all for the tips.

As I understand it...there's 3 different sizes of Spec Ops sheaths, and you mold the kydex liner to your knife. There's tape and dishwashing soap and all kinds of crazy stuff involved in the molding process...I really need to dig that thread up, but in the end I think they're pretty secure. I'll let you know when I test mine how it works out. :)

I just wrote to both Steelnut and Okuden. Standing by for an answer...:D

If you find that thread I would appriciate if you post it here.

The smaller Spec Ops sheath works. That's what my Jackhammer is currently riding in. No tape, dishwashing soap or other crazy stuff needed. You do have to take out the screw in the bottom and move it off to the side though- as the blade will hit it if you don't. The Jackhammer is a much better fit in a Spec Ops than an ASH-1 is!

Just passing through while some plastic heats up..

I do have a Jack Hammer in house and will for the forseeable future.

I might also add that a SARsquatch will be in permanent residence as well.

Thanks you guys, for all your support and kind words!

Ah, the oven calls....

Can you list the knives you have in house on your site?

If he has a SJTac in house and it fits well enough, I would want an SJTac sheath. If you ever decide to get an SJTac it could do double duty.

My sheath purchasing is far behind my knife purchasing so anything that can do double duty is a big plus.

SteelNut Scott has all 3 comp grade knives.......

i am a true believer in Scotts kydex work.....i cant believe i am a leatherworker and still prefer kydex for my knives:eek:

i just got the honkin huge kydex sheath for my MilitaryOverrun FBM..........just awesome....
