I'm thinking about a new slipjoint. And I have limmited my choice to 2 folders.
A Lone Wolf Loveless City Knife or a fällkniven U1.

Both very elegant both realy different. Fit and Finish is important. I'm looking for experience and opinions about both knives.

Thanx for the noticing the error zeppos.
And yep that would be me.

The U2 you talk about is not a slipjoint, the U1 you show in the picture ís ;)
(i own the U2, which is not bad at all. Rides in the pocket nearly unnoticable. Is a tad small for big hands.)

Never held a Lone Wolf Loveless City Knife...

(BTW: Xterior = X-terior op Waepons?)

I have never owned a U1 but had a U2. Based on the U2 I owned my choice would be the Loveless City Knife.

I own the Loveless City Knife in Green Canvas Micarta pictured above. It's really a slick elegant little slipjoint. The blade came scary shaving sharp right out of the box. Fit and finish on mine was excellent. The blade pivot is adjustable so you can tighten or loosen to your taste. I'm a big fan of carbon steel and bone, wood or stag traditional slipjoints. I don't usually care much for SS. The City Knife is my only synthetic handle, stainless, slipjoint and I love it. Simple elegance for about $80!

I just got a Loveless City Knife by Lone Wolfe yesterday from AG Russell.
This sucker is sharp and is a real handy user. Fit & Finish is nice , alot better than I was expecting on a $100 knife. The green micarta really looks good to , to me anyways. Wouldn't mind having one of these with stag or some type of bone , do any such animals exist ?
Cant think of anything I would change on this one.

I had one some time ago, with snakewood scales. The special and rare shape of the blade was very universal for me and I like the halfstop. It is for me not too big and not too small. I am looking for a custommade slipjoint with "exact" this handle- and blade-shape !!

oh great , now I gotta find one with snakewood scales too ? ;)

seriously , are they still making them with Snakewood ? if so , the search begins.

I have not handles either one in person. However over in W&S there are many that have "sang the praises" of the Fallknives U1. From what I have read you can't go wrong.

Good steel (Vg-10) and top notch company = nice knife IMHO:)

Definitely the Loveless City Knife. I own 2 and, now, after improving them a bit, like them a lot. I bought this as a, relatively, cheap replacement for a venerable Al Mar White Micarta Handled Falcon. I like wharncliffe style blades for EDC. I do, occasionally, miss the front-lock on the Al Mar.

These Lone Wolfs (the green Micarta ones anyway) can be had on ebay for around $60-$70. A stunning deal to my way of thinkin. The expensively handled ones; Snakewood. Abalone, Scrimshawed etc are needless overkill IMHO.

How I improved mine:
1) I de-horned it, meaning I smoothed all the sharp angles off the handle and back of the blade to make it more comfortable. I also shoe-shined the thonghole, purely for esthetic reasons.

2) I thinned the blade some allowing it to cut a lot easier. (Ruined its collector value in the process, I fear.

It is a sliplock so I pay attention to what I'm doing with it but it has never come close to surprising me.

Hi John T : Have a look at e...y

I am watching for one , thanks.
I have been carrying/using this since I got it , and have decided to sell off my Case/Bose Trapper , I like it that much.

I own a U1 and really like it. Flawless fit and finish, scary sharp, and excellent edge retention--I believe they aremade for Fallkniven by Moki. It is a very well built solid little knife. That being said, Ive always wanted a city knife.

Get the Lonewolf. Why? Designed by Bob Loveless and crafted to his specifications. An original Loveless design manufactured with his help is always worth it.

The green micarta is the original knife, the other scales have come since the original was so popular. The knife uses a special steel specifically made for Bob's Lonewolf knives. No other manufacture uses it. The knife is also unique in that it has integral bolsters.

Per the company "The City Knife blade has a Rc hardness of 59-61. The composition of the steel is 0.95% Carbon, 13.5 % Chromium, and 0.65% Maganese. The ridges on the bottom of the Loveless City Knife are planned and purposeful. This knife happens to be Bob Loveless’ favorite pocket knife. The ridges are designed for the thumb, when used in a manner in slicing an apple, where the person is pulling the blade towards themselves. Mr. Loveless has always felt that ordinary pocket knives were missing this key feature."
