Which Sog for Bushcraft?

Was thinking of a Northwest Ranger. What say you?

Bushcraft as in working with Wood? If so, I'd personally choose a Bark River or a Scandi ground knife

The NW Ranger is a good option, so is the Field Pup and the Hunter Revolver.

Seal pup works fine. I used mine for all types of bushcraft including deadfalls. And yes, I like the serreations even for bushcraft.

Yeah no doubt, I've got several Scandi's ( Mora's and a Spyderco Bushcrafter) also Blind Horse's up one side and down the other, MUK, BushCrafter and a few others. I was thinking mainly from the SOG line up.

I'm looking forward to getting to spend sometime with the new Force. Still pushing for a straight edge version. I think that would be a great knife for this.

I would buy a straight edge version of the Force in a heartbeat. The serrations actually prevent me from buying this knife, considering it's intended use.

As a side note Chris, will the new versions of the Recon and Demo come in satin and black? Also, why no leather handles on the Recon? It would have been a gorgeous blade!

The Recon and Demo are only available in Black TiNi right now. As for why we chose not to do leather handles, we wanted to do more of a modern version of the classic knives. Also, the previous versions we made of the Recon and Demo had leather handles and we wanted to differentiate these. There may be the possibility of having a limited edition leather handle version in the future.

For bushcraft? I'd go with the Powerlock multi tool.

Sure wish Chris can pull some strings to make a plain edge happen with the Force. Even if it doesn't happen , I think I would still buy it with serrations. Looks like an awesome , lo-maintenance bush tool.:thumbup:

I have a new NWR and it's a great woods knife for sure. Of all the SOG's , I think it is one of the more traditional woodsmans'-type of knife. It's just not a knife I would put through extreme abuse though , but it does excel in pretty much all normal camp tasks. I personally am not too fond of the sheath. Retention is kind of loose. It fits a lot better in the short kabar sheath as I found out.

Of my Sogs it would either be the Sog Field Pup or Seal Pup but most likely the Field Pup. Also, if my prize pack from the contest has the same contents as Oregon Fal'ers, then I think I will be ordering that Force with the 50% off coupon.
