I have been looking for a semi-custom knife to buy this summer when i go to Spain. Both knives cost around $320-$350 each. They are very similar but i haven't been able to decide between the two. I want to see what you guys think before I decide.
(You'll have to scroll down on the page to see the actual knives).

This will be "1": http://www.laespadaartesana.com/tienda/Catalog/show/navaja-de-estaje-de-rnuno-1370

This will be "2":http://www.laespadaartesana.com/tienda/Catalog/show/punta-de-cebu-cincelada-1345

just post number "1" or "2" for which one you like more with any comments you may have. as always, thanks alot for your help!

From what I can see from the pictures I would get #1. However its hard to say because you cant see the top/lock like you can on the other. That said I would rather get something else for the money spent. I would definately get a seb, Galyean Pro, Lightfoot, Umnumm or something of the sort instead but thats just me. It appears that #1 uses 440 series stainless (hopefully 440c) and the other does not list the steel used. Do you plan to use this knife or just have it for show?

I like #2. don't care for all of the etching on blade #1 and I also like the profile of the blade #2 kind of sexy.

Number one! I prefer the metal tip on the pommel end of the handle to the bare horn of #2.

#2. Prefer the more subtle work on the back spring to the blade etching. Nice looking clip point, and that's a good looking piece of horn. Have fun shopping those navajas.

If the blade were engraved rather than etched, I would go with #1. However, it appears as if #2 is better finished.

I gotta vote #2

That said, i forgot about the whole European decimal point being a comma and I read that as 299,000 euros. and almost crapped my pants.

as much as i like the sebies' galyean's etc. im going to be in spain and figured i would get a nice custom whil i'm there. the two in the pictres are just "templates" so to speak. i'll choose the materials i want used but it'll be in one of the two styles. so far, it looks like #2 is way out in front. i just did the conversion and it would cost $358.00. so a bit pricey but it'll be a decent size knife (4.5"-5" blade). thanks to everyone else for your input!

If you want typical Spanish folders ('navajas'), maybe you can look for them in more places. At less than 150 miles from Madrid, in a little town called Santa Cruz de Mudela, over Route #4, you can contact several custom knifemakers who still make beautiful navajas. Just as an example, take a look at http://www.franciscovalencia.es/ver...scovalencia&id0=315&padre0=0&menu0=Cat%E1logo.
You can pick up severals models reafy to take away. Unluckily, I think he only speaks Spanish.
Hope it helps. Anyway, let me know if I can help you.
