Which spyderco flipper?

Hello friends,

I'm getting very tempted to sample a flipper and need some advice on which one to try.

My EDC for about 10 years was a Delica. Then I EDCed a Stretch for a year or two but in the end it felt too bulky in my pocket for EDC. These days I EDC a Chaparral which is a perfect EDC for me. If I'm out in the yard I might use my combo edge Stretch or spyder edge Endura.

Which flipper will I enjoy the most?

Probably the Mantra, but you should have a hard look at the upcoming Advocate. It is about stretch sized but much thinner and really disappears in the pocket.

I don't have one, but the Mantra looks to be most like a Delica which you already like.

Easy solution. Pick one. You'll soon be buying another one. I just got a Domino and it is superb in every way. I also eventually plan to pick up an Advocate and maybe a Mantra.

The one with a compression lock yet to be designed or released

I would LOVE to see a compression lock flipper.

Maybe my imagination is failing me but I can't see how a compression lock flipper would work. Wouldn't the stop pin get in the way of the flipper tab?

OP, as others have said, if you like the Delica then the Mantra is a logical choice. I just bought one and I'm really liking it. You also stated that the Chap is perfect for you. Maybe take a look at the Dice?

Thanks for the tip Gringo! I did some online digging and came upon your custom version. That thing is absolutely glorious with the black coating and spyder hole. I will most certainly wait for the advocate though now I' considering a custom. But at the rate I lose knives I should probably stick with the production model.

Any idea when the Advocate will drop?

I'm kind of surprised it isn't available yet. I would guess pretty soon but who knows. I do love the custom that Gayle made for me. Still one of my favorite edc knives!

I've had my Domino for two days and can't put the damn thing down. Really enjoying this one.

I find the Domino just a little wide in pocket for my taste. The Mantra is great, very similar to a Delica.

If you liked your Delica I'd suggest a Mantra. It's basically a flipper Delica on steroids. Very underrated knife.

If it's designed with an internal stop pin it should work. Depending on the geometry you *might* be able to make it work with a traditional stop pin.
