Which Spyderco for $100?

I have a budget of $100 for a Spyderco. One option I have is buying a Salt I SE and buying hones for my Lansky Kit to sharpen serrated edges. This would come out at around $100. I like the H1 steel because I will be going to the beach this summer for about 3 weeks, and the Salt I SE looks really cool. Any other ideas? Thanks.

Salt 1 rules. I had a serrated one and loved it until I dove into the lake without thinking to take it out of my pocket :/ I give it a thumbs up, just don't be dumb like me. Super light and thin.

Sage 1 was my first Spyderco and an amazing value. You can find those for ~$100 on that online auction site. The CF Lum Chinese can be found for ~$100 too if you want a unique and classy design.

Manix 2 S110V sells for a little over $100 but you'll have to sign up for a preorder and wait a bit.

You're going to get a lot of suggestions, but I think your initial idea is an excellent one. I love my se salts. Definitely my most used knives. If you don't have any serrated h1 then I think it's a no brainer. And sharpening equipment usually gets more use than another knife anyway. I say go for it.

I love my salt 1 in plain edge. Especially for fishing. I dont have to worry about it rusting. Great knife. Another good option is the manix 2 lightweight another favorite.

Salt 1 SE would be a great knife to have around saltwater and the Lansky stone for serrated edges works well. Best Spyderco for around $100 is the Manix 2 LW S110V IMO but that might not meet your needs as well. The correct answer, of course, is to buy them all one at a time.

Actually, I'd agree with Brisket. The s110v manix is arguably one of the best values in the spyderco lineup right now, especially if you are into high end steels. For overall end user value I would still recommend the salt 1 and sharpening gear though.

Manix 2 is a fantastic deal. You really can't go wrong with the value of the Manix 2 variants.

I strongly agree. I think the Manix 2 is one of the best values in the Spyderco line-up, for a hundred bucks it is very hard to beat.

If you want something light and rust proof to throw in your swim shorts there is also the Saver Salt, nice size and it has a choil. Throw a lanyard and a stainless s-beener on it and your set. Comes in under budget as well.

Where can I find the Salt 1 SE for a good price? I see grabagun.com has if for $60, anyone ever ordered a knife from there?

Never ordered a knife from their, but I have bought some mags and tools from grabagun. No problems at all.

I would HIGHLY advise you DO NOT order a Spyderco Salt from that south american river website.
Twice they sent me a Tenacious when I ordered a Pacific Salt. I think they are incorrectly labeled at one of their giant warehouses.

I would highly suggest BladeHQ, they have great service and good prices.

Funny, I've ordered several from them with no issue. Having said that, I always try to buy everything I can through knifeworks. Good prices and great customer service.

I would go for a Para2. But its $111.00 shipped.
Save up $11.00 more dollars.
Check the dealer sales area here on BF.

I love my Salt I.
Also love my PM2 and Sage1, and think the Manix2 is one of the best deals going.
So, good luck!

Same deal at ******* ( I don't think we are supposed to say exactly where but it's out there) + a few cents and Free shipping. Just ordered a Salt Dragonfly with the Spydie edge from there. Might be here by the weekend :). Surfingringo has been making a strong case for the Salts and so I'm in - starting small so I can swim with it and never get tangled in the sea weeds :D.

Right on man! That little knife is a rough and tough little cutting machine! I often wear mine clipped to a cord around my neck. So light I can forget it is there. I tied a tiny loop in the cord to clip through so the knife wouldn't slide around. Good system. Always use it while I'm fishing.

Enjoy!
