Would be most similar on handle shape to the tenacious but USA made with better blade steel and smoother pivot? Would be nice to have compression lock.

Sage 5 compression lock.

Smoother pivot? I think most spydercos are washers. Some knives with heavier blade will "feel smoother" due to more heft when flicking.

Going from a liner lock to a compression lock will give you about all the smoothnesses you can possibly handle.

I think the Native 5 is kind of similar. They have other Natives with different locks too I think? The 5 is a backlock, but I am not a Spyderco expert.

Just to second this comment here... I bought a Sage 5 LW for my girlfriend, and I was playing with it before I gave it to her, man, holding it at the right angle, the comp lock button almost seems to push the knife out like a switch, it is so smooth. I have to admit, out of all the comp locks I have, which are 3 PM2s with different liner systems for each and a Yojumbo, all of which are great, that Sage has to be the smoothest. I really want to get one of them for myself and dye the scales.

Sooooooo. My three choices:

1 para 3 blk lw in bd1n (cheapest way to get my fix)
2 para 3 camo g10 in s45 (i like the color)
3 para 2 brn micarta in cruwear ( only $20 more than #2 and just cause)

thoughts?

ps. I don’t need another knife, I‘m just kind of itching to get one and looking to upgrade the tenacious i have (no particular reason I just want something a little better). Also the other ones I like are all out of stock.

I would really go for the Cruwear, it's a tough blade that cuts really well and wants to work with you to sharpen. I really love that, it is my go-to PM2 for any environment that I wouldn't wanna hazard a mroe brittle steel. "Crucarta" is just great.
The Para 3 is a great lightweight knife, I prefer it to a Bugout, but BD1N is like, a kitchen knife steel, just not making the cut for me, for that price. I have nothing bad to say about S45VN except for that it chips easier than the Cruwear, I dropped PM2s of Cruwear and S45VN, same distance, accidently, onto hardwood. S45VN had microchipping, but not bad, not really affecting performance. Cruwear was unscathed.

Yeah. Para 3 is a fine choice but PM2 Crucarta is better, in my opinion. Let us know what you go with!

Idk. The para 2 looks rather large.

so it is either the para 3 camo or now i also like the lil native

Got the crucarta!
That's what's up. If Cruwear continues to perform ends up being as good as I think it will, I am gonna get a second Crucarta just so I can blade-switch, and either keep the scales for a second knife or give them to somebody who wants it.

What are first impressions?

returned the crucarta. i hated the handle material and the blade to handle proportions. i found a para 3 exclusive with g-10 and 204p steel so i ordered one of those, should ship next week.

Dang, well, that is fair enough. That ratio is something, that is true. My gf said it feels like "the back of a clipboard" and had a point, but I like the material enough to keep it and watch it change over time. However, it ain't nearly as grippy as the G-10.

Hope the Para3 does it for you! 😁

gotta go with the manix 2, will say it took me a while to get one cause I wasnt a big fan of the spyderco/leaf blades but using one changed my perception right quick!
