Ive got a Para military 2 and a persistance. Ive been looking at the ppt, the Gayle Bradley, the Sage, the manix 2 and the Chaparral. I cant decide which one I like the most. The sage and the Chaparral seem very similar.

Endura or Delica. Strong, sharp, and great price @ $60.
I think everyone should own a Millitary.
I have also wanted the Sage 1 or 2 for years as well.

From among the ones you listed, my vote would be for the Gayle Bradley since it gives you something cool and different in terms of both blade and scale material. But I also really like the earlier suggestion of the Endura/Delica: their status as classics is well-deserved. You might check out the ZDP-189 versions, which are about $20-30 more than the standard VG-10 ones (but still an excellent value, IMHO).

Personally, I prefer the Sage over the Chaparral. I don't get along well with the compression lock. But that's just me. Sage makes for a light, versatile carry. I'm very fond of the Manix 2, and it's a heck of a bargain if you get the plain hollow ground one.

I'm the odd one out here--I had a CF Sage, but was more partial to my Caly 3 and Native IV. Don't get me wrong, the Sage is a very nice knife, but it never felt "just right" to me. I am, however, looking at getting the Chaparral, since I loved the twill carbon fiber on the first Sage, and it seems like a slightly smaller cross between the Native and Sage.

I should mention, though, that the Sage sold me on Spyderco's liner locks. I'm not a big fan of most liner locks, but Spyderco does them very well.

Manix 2 serrated (seriously, my father has one and it is awesome, the grind just EATS whatever you are cutting) or a gayle bradley

Gayle Bradley.

Excellent fit and finish
Comfortable ergonomics
Utilitarian bladeshape
Top shelf materials

I like the Gayle Bradley myself there is just something about carbon fiber it looks amazing also the CPM-M4 is an excellent all around "using steel".

I'm in a similar dilema. However, I have a Gayle Bradley. I foolishly traded a Sage 1 last year, and I want one again. However, the Manix 2 is tugging at the heart strings. As much as I like the Sage, I'm really leaning towards the Manix since I have large-ish hands, and I appreciate the extra handle real estate on the Manix. Plus I get the same type of 50/50 choil as the Sage AND I get a pointier blade with a little less belly, which I really dig. So personally I'm gonna go with the Manix. Your mileage may vary, though. I can really appreciate the Sophie's choice type of dilema you're going through. Stay strong .

If you are looking for a larger knife, I would suggest the Gayle Bradley from your list. The knife is truly impressive at its price point, and feels like it is built well with quality materials.

If you are looking for a smaller blade, one of the Sage series might be a good fit. The blade size of the Sage is fitted well for just about any every-day task, so your choice would really boil down to which locking mechanism you prefer.

An additional suggestion I'd echo from previous posters would be the Military. At first it seems too big to carry daily, but after getting one myself I was surprised at how well it merged into my EDC rotation. Moreover, there are still Brown CTS-XHP sprint runs in stock at a few online retailers.

Some other models to keep in mind which will (probably) see their debut before the end of 2011 - the Junior and Yojimbo 2. Just something to keep in mind.

Good luck with your decision!

Sage 2, Try To Find a FFG Manix 2 sprint, or the Chaparral. I had both the PPT and the Gayle Bradley and I didn't care for either

I'm also thinking about my next Spyderco. I really fell in love with my para2 and it's always in my pocket. I'm just thinking it might be nice to have something a bit smaller for certain occasions. I was thinking of trying something in Zdp-189 for a change. So far, the contenders are the Delica 4 and the Caly 3 carbon fiber.

I just picked up the Sage 3 and really like it:

I'm all about my Manix 2, it feels solid, amazing little knife. It's my favorite of all my Spydercos. My only complaint is you can really only get it (cheaply) in Black g-10. So mine is off to Tuffthumbz for some pimpage. :)
