Which of the following stainless steels are better than the others and why? Cold Steels Carbon V, Vg-1 or AUS-8A

I like Sandvik steel myself. It is easy to sharpen & holds an edge quite well. JMHO.

Carbon v is a trademark:rolleyes: used by Cold Steel. It is not stainless. I would go with VG10 over AUS-8 and day. Just M/O.

Carbon V is the worst stainless, because it's not stainless at all :)

I don't know what's in VG-1, nor do I know anyone who has tested it. If I had to make a guess based on track record, I suspect it's a lower-cost lower-carbon lower-alloy steel than 8A, which means for general EDC type carry, it probably won't perform as well as 8A. But that's nothing but a guess.

Carbon V will outperform all the above handily, but alas, it's not stainless.

Keep in mind he said VG-1, not VG-10. Based on CS's track record, I assume VG-1 is not quite up to 8A standards, much less VG-10.
