I`ll always carry O1, but I am thinking of only offering one stainless option. So here is the question, which do you prefer, 154CM or CPMS30V? If I only have to carry one, it might lower the pricing. Please post your reason for your choice, otherwise it does me no good to ask the question. I do have a large quantity of each on hand, so no existing orders would be affected.

S30V is garbage that chips way too easily. 154CM is a good all around steel.

I like 154CM, only reason I can really give is that I have a few blades in it, and prefer the edge holding capabilities and toughness over any other stainless I've used. Never really put it through the ringer, as I only have folders in 154CM.

I'm not experienced enough with either to make a judgement based on expertise, but from everything I hear/read, and from the prices you have to charge, I'd think the 154CM is the way to go.

I like 154cm over s30v solely based on ease of sharpening. I would much prefer m390 or s35vn, but...........

I didn't answer because I'm not a stainless guy, have no preferences, I've had both in a folder or two but don't even have those folders any more, so no real experience to judge, sorry

don't suppose 1095 counts as a vote :)

I traded the only two 154CM's I had as they both seemed to not hold an edge as good as some steels I have and the reason I like the CMPS30V better is because I have 3 of them ( I liked my first one and bought the other 2 Knives because I liked the 1st one. ) and so far I have not had a chipping problem or any other problem with the one I use { other 2 are Safe Queens. }
and until I do I will continue to like CPMS30V..! Good Steel in my opinion.**

CPMS30V.
If I had to choose one over the other, that's the one I'd pick. I've heard the chipping horror stories but I don't believe many of the people that tell such tales.

CPM S30V for me too. Maybe it takes a bit more to get the edge you want but once its there it will stay sharp and work hard. Its tough and reasonably hard without being brittle.

I haven't used a blade in S30V, but did once check out the durability of a Scrap Yard Mud Puppy in 154CM so 154CM gets my vote.
Done right it is some tough stuff.
I also had a Benchmade Griptilian & ZT 0200 in 154CM and both came screaming sharp.
But then, so did the 3 Rukus's in S30V I've had.

Here are some pics from the torture test I subjected the SYKCO MP to.

After pounding the edge of the MP into the 1/8 wall of the 2x2 tubing I pounded the tip through.
No damage to the edge or tip, just a bit of galling on the shoulder.

154CM for me.

not that S30V is bad just like 154CM better but I've cut bolts In half with both steels.

I like 154CM better because holds a finer edge longer then S30V and it doesn't like to clip as much.

Would the heat treat of both these steel make a dramatic difference in reliability? Yes?

I picked 154cm . Never had a problem with cpms30v, just want to see more 154cm.

Oh so quietly, in a breathy, low, whiskey and lace voice, she coyly whispered.............."D2", and then he was spent.

Why not S35Vn? It is equivalent to S30V in terms of edge-holding, but based on my experience (Mini-Rukus in S30V vs. Sebbie in S35Vn), S35Vn is easier to sharpen and takes a finer edge.

I would love to offer D2, because I can get it in short lengths, so I would not need to order more than I need, plus it`s available in a wide variety of sizes, just like O1. Pricewise it compares to 154CM.

I have not had chipping issues with S30V - and have no preference between it and 154CM.
I remember when ATS-34 & 154CM first became popular in lower end folders 15-20 years ago, and the horror stories about it at the time were scary, but with the right HT, it's a perfectly serviceable steel.

OTOH, I like D2 as well - and have not had any chipping issues with it, either.
