So I bought a Lectroetch V10A on ebay and then used the parts to repair and get working a Lectroetch VT15A which I had picked up from Dan Pierson at Wulf's ABS hammerin this fall... and get the V10A to work as well. The V10A arrived yesterday and after working on them I tested them both out last night and I'm able to etch with both just fine. My problem now is that I need to find a place to get stencils made to mark my blades.

My question now is, which company would those of you who get stencils made recommend? I know of three companies offhand, though I'm not sure on their price or their service.

www.lectroetch.com was very helpfull with getting my etching machines running so I'm tempted to go with them, but they dont have clearly marked anywhere what their fees are for stencils.

www.tustech.com is a local company to me, only 45 minutes away from where I live and their prices seem quite reasonable http://www.tustech.com/pdf/Etchstencils.pdf

http://www.markingmethods.com/ is another company that i've heard people get their stencils from, but as with lectroetch, I can not find any price sheets anywhere.

Thank you all ahead of time for your insight. I need to get a stencil made so I can mark the first blade leaving my shop to a customer !

Go with IMG. Talk to Patricia. IMG uses really good quality material for their stencils and I haven't been dissappointed yet. Also, use the solutions (etchant...cleaner, etc.) that they recommend. I really believe that has as much to do with it when it comes to a nice mark.

Hope this helps. www.img-electromark.com ph:3157357591

Marking methods makes great stencils. The require a $75 dollar first purchase I think but that can include stencil setup, stencils and etching fluids. I cant quite remember there setup fee but it differs between text only and art plus text. They were easy to work with, just shoot em an email.

I really think most if not all knife makers should make their own stencils. It is not a hard process (if I can do it anyone can) and the equipment necessary is not expensive. Then you can come up with custom stencils on the fly in case anyone wants their name, event or whatever on the knife (also you can stencil anything made of metal not just a blade).

Could you give us some info on the equipment needed.Thank You

P.S. Tusstech shipped downunder as well .
