Which Stretch 2

I need advice on which Stretch 2 will be best for cleaning hogs and deer. Edge retention, corrosion resistance, and ease of sharpening are my concerns. It’s available in VG -10, ZDP-189, and V-Toku2/SUS 310. Which one?

V-toku2 would be my choice.
You’d have to keep an eye on the non laminated area, as far as corrosion resistance. After a patina forms though, I think you’d be all set.

I'd go with VG-10 for your stated purposes. Stainless, decent edge retention, easy to get, and keep, very sharp.

i must agree with tommylion,VG-10 would be my choice too.people do underestimate VG-10 often, but the steel quality is there.no need for all the "hyper steels",don't get me wrong,HAP40,ZDP-189 and V-TOKU are great but VG-10 WILL do the job!

I think you'll be pretty pleased with the Stretch 2 in any flavor. It's a real go getter.

I would say VG10. It would also be the cheapest of the bunch, so if it get's lost in the woods, you will cry a bit less. I bough one recently (second hand, here in the exchange) and it has replaced my Centofante III as go to blade for hiking/climbing (unless rope work is expected). Bigger blade but still very thin/sliciy, ligther and grippier. I couldn't be happier.

I don t know about corrosion resistance, but for edge holding and ease of sharpening, see if you can find a Stretch in hap 40.

If it has to be a Stretch (2), I would get the G10 ZDP189 Stretch, simply because I like the build, metal back-spacer, etc.

Note that I don't hunt, but I cook, and I've cooked boar for 20 people years ago. The Stretch 2 is very useful in the kitchen; but: for cleaning meat and bones, perforating skin, etc., I personally think the Endura is a more useful knife. Knifecenter still has the Hap40 Pakkawood Endura in stock, one of my favorite Spydercos. Just saying :)
