I am looking at buying a Strider folder and would like to know which one in your opinion is toughest. I was looking at the SMF SnG and AR.

SMF and SNG are essentially the same knife.

i'd say the sng is the tougher of the pack.

but i think if resilience is your concern, you should stick to a fixed blade. any fixed blade, really.

I would say AR or GB are the toughest of the pack. The SMF is a bigger knife than the SNG!

Here's a link to the specifications of the Strider folders.
It also has a pic, so that you get a relative view of the size differences.
The AR & GB are the thickest blades, then the SMF....so prob one of these,
the SNG is about in the middle of the pack,but......
You can judge for yourself which could be considered the "toughest".

I own or have owned all Strider folder models. My opinion on which is the toughest of the bunch is the GB. Stricly from a blade geometry point of view. AR/GB liners are very thick also. Not as thick as frame lockers(PT, SnG, SMF, RC), but very thick indeed.

To me, toughness includes resistance to tip breakage. IMHO, the GB is the winner. Second in my book would be SnG tanto. Stubbier and thicker tip profile than SMF tanto, which is stabbier. :D

Enjoy, they are good knives.

Using your link, the AR/GB blade is the same thickness as the SMF. And SMF's have huge framelocks instead of huge liners. The SMF (or RC, actually) would be the strongest/toughest folders in my opinion. But any of them with a tanto profile can be punched through a car or refrigerator or whatever.

If you really want to be impressed (and save some dough over a folder) just get a DB. Very easy to carry, quarter inch thick, and pretty much indestructable.

I have a Damascus mightmare , a Strider Hybrid and a one off CP . I like carrying the Nightmare , it's a good performer .

I have a nightmare (smf) and an sng, it doesnt really matter, none will break with normal use and if they do, send it in, Mick will fix it. pick whichever one is best fitted to your size/usage.
