Only you can say which is right for you Personally, I'd go with clip point. I have a number of tanto point knives, and I don't carry any of them anymore. They work great for some things, but for most of my general cutting they just seemed bit awkward.
I also canned my tanto's.
I own a black plain edge clip point mule and she sure is sturdy.
Love it, although I haven't had the chance to abuse it but it sure seems like it would take it
There have been a number of threads on tantos vs. other blade styles. The consensus always seems to be that tantos look cool, but are less useful than other blade styles.
My own opinion is that I have absolutely no use for a tanto blade.
Good choice on the mule.
Well, I do not care for tanto's, so I would get a clip point. It is a more useful blade shape, to me. But, it is your knife, you decide what YOU like better.
Don't know what your willing to spend, but you might consider getting both. The Mule is a real user and I can't remember anything being said negatively about it. Btw, the clip point is more functional.
Just went and looked at the Mules and the tanto point really is a good looking knife. I forgot how sturdy these were built and I may be tempted to get one myself to use as a beater. Anyone know where the clip is mounted?
