Which switchback?

I've got a birthday coming up and I'm thinking of buying myself a switchback, one of my original favorite Benchmades....

But I'd like a reverse tanto also...how do you guys feel about the Taurus version?

Two problems (maybes, anyway) -

The Taurus is only available in combo, there is no plain edged version.

The Taurus is in 154CM, not S30V. If those don't bother you (and there's no reason they should, necessarily) then there's no downside to the Taurus.

My nonhelpful advice :p is to buy a Switchback to scratch your Switchback itch, and a 940 to scratch your reverse tanto itch. :D

My only other advice would be get them both in the black handled version, as that's the only color of aluminum I find it easy to touch up scratches on.

Of course if you run into a carbon fibre or titanium 940, snap it up.

As Nick pointed out, the Taurus version is only available in 154CM, serrated, and BT2 coated. IMO, BT2 is useless as a coating except for corrosion resistance (which works very well, from what I hear), since it's very easy to scratch. Benchmade's 154CM is fantastic, but the regular version is S30V...I'd have a hard time buying an "inferior" version, even if it's really not that inferior. I'm not a fan of combo blades myself. Then of course, there's the big "TAURUS" billboard on the side of the blade (kinda silly if you don't own any Taurus firearms).

I'd go with a regular 921, and perhaps another time get a 940/942 for your reverse tanto.

I was looking into my Benchmade catelogue last night, and it looked like they had a reverse tanto black one without the taurus stuff, and all were listed as S30V...pretty confusing...

I'm not a big fan of black blades myself, but I do love the blade shape....

But I would prefer the S30V and non black. 50/50 blade is okay with me though. Need another.
