Hey guys! the two swords in question are the one offered by Bugei and the infamous Dragons Fang. I am leaning towards the Dragons Fang due to the steel (INFI of course:thumbup:). The Primary use of the sword will be mainly for cutting and training. Which would u guys consider??

If you lean towards classical sword training ... say, iaido, for example ... then you are probably better off with a sword such as Bugei offers.

Dragons Fang is amazingly cool and the balance is probably great, for a sword that size. I'm guessing it's not optimal for classical sword training, though.

So. Ask yourself why you want the sword and you're likely to see your answer.

I'd have to agree with OldPhysics on that one. Now after talking to many of Bugei's students they told me its not uncommon to warp or even crack a blade performing a simple cut if performed incorrectly. James (head instructor of the school) even told me it has to do with technique, so keep that in mind when ur laying out the cash. I wouldnt spend more than $400 for a sword you intend to practice with.

For a practice piece the new Hanwei (the producer of the Bugei line) Raptor series is very nice, and designed to take a lot of abuse. Based on how they look and feel alone, I was surprised that they were as inexpensive as they are.

If you really have an an INFI itch, go for the Dragon's Fang, but if you want one of the finest traditional production katana on the market, jump for anything from Bugei.
