Which Tiny toothpick?

Lately my pocket knifes have been getting smaller and smaller. For the last 6 months or so I've been carrying a case peanut cv and I really like the size. I've had my eye on a Tiny toothpick for a while now and have finally decided it's time to get one, I can't decide which one. As soon as I think I found "the one" I see or hear about another that is worth taking a look. Which one do you guys have and why did you choice it? I prefer carbon steel, but stainless steel isn't a deal breaker.

My self for a little knife i like the peanut patten best. Ive got about 300 of them:) But if i was going to get a toothpick i would get a stag rancher series. It has a cv blade and a nice stag handle. But if you like small knives i would get a stag peanut pre 1970 they will hold a edge forever and are light in the pocket.

This is a S&M in Stag
As good as it gets...........

Wow, 300!? I guess you really do like them! :)
I'm curious though, why pre 1970? What's different about those?

Pre 70 peanuts and most case had carbon blades. Plus the quality control was better in general back then

Although I am a big fan of case I agree with Neeman on this the S&M tiny work series for around 25$ is very hard to beat

The fit and finish is much better. They had better steel and better backsrings. If you get one in your hand you will know. One peanut pre70 will last twice as long as a new one trust me i should know.

Probably a really stupid question but I'm super new to traditional knives and I'm in the same boat as the OP. I know I want a mini toothpick and a peanut knife but trying to narrow down which route to go. Anyway my question is what brand is S&M??

Schatt and Morgan

i have a queen brand tiny toothpick with the black plastic covers. nice little knife although it took a little bit more effort than i expected to get it sharp.
i have not tried any other tiny toothpick models so i can offer no comparison.

Hi i am new to bladeforums so this is my first post. I recently received a Queen mini toothpick in honey amber stag bone from Greg at TSA (a smashing bloke), i was not to sure about it at first, i have been carrying a Case peanut for a while and have been very happy with it,three days after the Queen arrived a Case tiny toothpick in Autumn Jigged Bone arrived fron Knoxville TN, the Case is as pretty as a picture the fit and finish is great but it is a hair smaller than the Queen and the snap is a we bit snappier but of course it could soften with use, i have not carried the Case nor do i think i wll mainly because it is just to tiny for my hands and i think that has to be the deciding factor, i do not want to get in the middle of this "old versus new" Case argument but i think if i had my slim nimble teenage fingers back i should certainly give the Case a go .As another thought you could try the CRKT 6061 Toothpick Classic the F&F is not as good as either the Case or the Queen but it is a good bit cheaper and a lot more robust.

Carl Schlieper aka "Eye Brand Knives" also has small stag Toothpicks in stock.

Maybe you can find a retailer in the US, if you are interessted. ;)

When testing new patterns, you may find Rough Rider economical. I bought both a Peanut and a Toothpick from RR. I then bought a Case Peanut, which I like better because it has half stops. The Toothpick did not work for me, the blade is far too skinny, for me. I also did not like how the Toothpick carried in pocket, the narrow nead digs into pocket corners more than I like.

I now carry a Pemberton, because it is stronger than my Case Damascus Stag Peanut, and I dont need 2 blades. As to the Original Question, which Tiny Toothpick, definitely one from Rough Rider, until you KNOW you like the pattern. After that the stag and forged Schlieper is definitely high quality.

Of the ones I've seen/handled/sold I've gotta say I'm quite partial to the Case 310096 in CV and Yellow Delrin. Gave me the notion, that these little gems, aren't just super ornate pocket jewelry, but useable tools.

I like their one in longhorn better but perhaps it's cuz I haven't been able to get my hands on the stag.

I do like my Queen in stag. I have 25 or so Case tiny toothpicks but IMHO the S&M and Queen are better.

YMMV

I recently got a Chinese Robert Klaas in ramshorn (that was the clincher) for like 11bux inc post -from the USA.
Its stainless and its a snappy little pointy thing. I like it a lot.

I know your post stated that you want to buy a toothpick but consider the Case Mini Copperhead. It measures 3", like the toothpick, but has two blades.
I have about 5 peanuts, 1 mini copperhead, and 1 tiny toothpick. I'd carry either a peanut or the copperhead before I'd carry the toothpick.
The peanut and copperhead are, to me, more practical.

Here's a stocK pick of the one I have....
