Which to choose???

I was about to pull the trigger on my first CRK - was going for the small Sebenza because of its legendary status - but now can't decide between Sebenza or Mnandi.

I need a good EDC knife that will handle mostly day to day pocket knife duties with the occasional heavier duty chores. I've been carrying a Kershaw Scallion, which had been excellent for the tasks I need a knife for, but I'm ready for a step up to a CRK and I'm really looking forward to it.

Help!!

Welcome to Bladeforums and CRK! :)

If the Scallion covers you now, the Mnandi will be fine. Later you can think about a larger knife for other reasons, but the Mnandi is up for office tasks, steak knife, light workfloor use. For example, its blade is the size of the Spyderco Native, a renowned workhorse.

And the Mnandi is less of a problem in areas unfriendly to other knives.

If this is your first CRK I would get the Sebenza. The Sebenza is pretty much what defines CRK quality. You'll be getting more in the future, so Sebenza first and then get the Mnandi next. I'm not saying the Mnandi is a bad knife or anything, it's just that CRK is known for their Sebenza and it's a good reference point for folding knives.

Agree 100 % Sebenza first then Mnandi, I carry both, I would start with the small Sebenza and move on from there. ;););) Rickster ;););)

I'll join the Sebenza chorus. You can somewhat shrink a Seb by removing the clip, but the Mnandi is what it is. The Mnandi is a wonderful knife - I bought one when a dealer had a closeout sale and don't regret t for a minute, but I think the small Sebenza is an ideal place to start getting acquainted with CRK knives.

My EDC is a small Sebenza. Thin, flat, light, easy to open. You can carry it at the office, open a letter with it or skin a Moose. The Mnandi is a very nice gentlemen's knife, I have one, but it is also very SMALL. My $.02.

I had the same problem on picking which one, I went the the Small Sebenza 21. And I couldn't be happier. Everything I wanted. Im glad I went with the Sebenza first.

Id also suggest the small seb. It is simple yet beautiful. It will get the job done and look great doing it. That being said, the Mnandi is also very nice. If you can handle both, id recommend it.

Personally, I went with the large Sebenza and love it. It is my favorite edc, and will likely stay that way. It is a knife that seems it was made for me

Just went through this exact same scenario, . Had been looking to join the CRK club for a while and was having a bit of trouble deciding between the small Sebenza and Mnandi. Went with the small Sebenza first, older '97 model. Followed up with the Mnandi, it is definitely more of a gents knife. I wore it to church today in my shirt pocket, carrys like a pen; think I like carrying it there better than in pocket. In my short experience with the two knives the small Sebenza seems a more versatile and overall capable knife. Get both, but get the Sebenza first.

I've been looking at the mnandi lately. I really would like to handle one first. Does it have the pivot bushing like the seb?

Sure does. #3 top row. Craftmanship is superb.

Yet another vote for the Sebenza first especially given the comment ccasional heavier duty chores." I have both a Small Sebenza and a Mnandi and although the Mnandi is one tough little knife, I think the Small Sebenza is far more capable and useful for heavier tasks.
