Fellow Flashlighoholics,

Which of the two aforementioned 3 AA-celled flashlights should I get for my girlfriend?

How do the two compare in terms of overall durability? (She somehow 'killed' a Pelican Super Duper MityLite without deliberate abuse!)

Thanks

The main differnce between the two lights is the Lightwave 2000 has a tighter beam of light, more like a "normal" flashlight. While the PLW-3 has a very wide beam of light. I would say if you plan to be using the light outdoors I would go with the lightwave, if you are indoor and close, under 10 feet, or if it is used to light up a room go with the PLW-3. They both emmit about the same amount of light, but the PLW-3 is just very wide.

You can compare the outputs to one another on my site or check out this image. http://www.uwgb.edu/nevermab/led/halfsec.jpg

Thanks for the feedback on the two lights' pattern of light - any additional comments one way or the other regarding which seems more durable?

I would say the PLW 3 might have just the slightest edge since it is waterproof. The LED are exposed on the lightwave and it is waterproof to 2 feet. The PLW-3 also emmits light to the sides, about 160 degrees so it sort of shines in your eyes at night, while the lightwave is about 90 degrees.

As far as dropability I bet they are about the same. The Lightwave might have a slightly thicker case.
