Which type of threaded inserts for aftermarket scales?

Hey guys, I'm planning on making some custom scales (micarta, carbon fiber) for a few of my folders with my new CNC machine. However, I've run into a problem regarding which type of threaded inserts to use.

I've combed the forum for answers, running into several dead links from YEARS ago, and finally found somebody recommended THESE:

I noticed on the aftermarket scales I already own that many makers seem to used flanged inserts? I guess I'm wondering if the tapered inserts above would work fine, or if something like THIS or THIS would be better?

Any other recommendation on the type of inserts?

I realize I'm probably overthinking this... but I figured I'd ask you guys who are much more knowledgeable/experienced than myself.

Thanks in advance!

You probably want a HeliCoil type insert. These are stainless coils designed around standard machine screw threads. They are provided loose or in kits. The kits contain a special drill, a special tap, inserts, and an insertion tool for each size. I use #2X56TPI coils for anchoring pocket clips in Micarta, G-10, and Valox scales. Carbon fiber is a pain to drill and tap using regular tooling. McMaster-Carr has a selection of HeliCoil stuff, but it is not the HeliCoil brand. They’re listed underStainless Steel Helical Inserts.
