Which Vantage?

Just when I had given up on owning a Vantage due to Australia toughening their Customs import regs, a local importer has started stocking them at prices comparable to those out of the US. I got to hold a vastly overpriced Vantage Select a couple of weeks ago in a local camping store and fell in love, so now the question is which do I get?

The obvious choice is the Pro because of the G10 handles and SV30 blade, but I know there have been several comments around here from people saying the Avid was their favourite. Also considering the Force versions as well.

I'm looking to pull the trigger at the end of the week but any input before then would be most welcome.

I have a Vantage Avid, and a Vantage Force Pro. The Vantage Avid is much more comfortable to carry and use. The dymondwood is simply easier on the hand than the machined G-10. The price advantage is by far with the regular Vantages. But, I really like the look of the Force Pro blue G-10 over the Avid's dymondwood. Generally I don't care for coated blades, but I also like the coating on my Force Pro. Reminds me of gun metal; though some others look more black. I know some people don't like it, but I do...and that's what it's all about. I hope You enjoy your selection!

I have said it in the past and will keep saying it, I love the vantage and particularly the Avid diamond wood. I have the Force models but have yet to use them... I have a Vantage pro and just bought another, one to keep and one to use. You never know I may start advocating for the pro..

I've only got the Pro, and I don't find the G10 rough at all. To me the scales are just a little more grippy than a Buck 110's scales. I chose the Pro because I wanted to try s30v but not at a ridiculous price. I have really liked it so far. I would advise if you haven't ever tried s30v, you should definitely get the pro model.

I'm used to the G10/SV30 combo from my Spyderco Military. I like both. As far as bang for buck goes (no pun intended) I think I'm leaning toward the Avid. Somehow I doubt I'll only get the one version eventually.
