I just bought a new laptop with Windows 7 Pro installed on it. The laptop came with Office 365 shovelware on the hard drive, but I haven't activated it yet. I'm currently running Office 2003 on my existing home computers (2) and I'm running Office 2007 on my work computer. I'm retiring in about a year and I want to keep my future computing costs to a minimum. I realize I'm captive to Microsoft and I'll inevitably have to move to Windows 10 at some point. But I'm not going to do that until it's been in the wild for at least a year. I've heard that Office 2003 isn't supported by Windows 10 but Office 2007 is. I've also heard that Microsoft intends to continue supporting Office 2007 until October, 2017. Last but not least, the street price for Office 2007 Pro installable on 3 computers is around $100.00. So here's my question.
Should I buy Office 2007 now and install it on all three of my computers or face the inevitable and make the jump to Office 365 right away?
PS: This seems like a weird forum to be having this discussion, but I've found it's easier to ride the horse in the direction he's going. And there are some REALLY smart people in here. So please help me with this decision if you can.
