Which version, variation is this?

I found this a few days ago and I "think" it's a Third Version, Variation 8 or 9 but I'm not sure. It has the brass spacers, 2 tiny (?) inlay rivets, two pins showing in both sides of rear bolsters and a brass pivot pin with what I think are heads. I couldn't get the pins in the bolsters to show up in a picture but they do show in the right light.

Am I correct or am I missing some other sign?

Theres nothing keeping it from being a 4th Ver. var.1 either . Even with the box and use and care statement I wonder if we could tell which it is . Still, a nice knife in good shape . DM

David you're correct, 4th Version, variation 1... as the spring holder is a seperate piece of brass...all the 3rd Versions have a spring holder integral to the right-side rear bolster.

True, Scott.....I didn't notice that. Actually, I didn't even think of the spring holder.

Well done.

And a real nice old knife!

Scott, thanks . But He said the pins were visible on both sides . If intergal they would only show on one side . I agree the sheets say they are intergal and one can tell it all the way to 7 variations . But at 8 and 9 I go hummm ! Now examining the end of the rear bolster 'may' with magnification should reveal it .Which one can tell in his excellant photo is 3 pieces . DM

The V8 and V9 knives do show two pins on both sides. Well, at least I'm looking at a V9 that does.

And the V9, of course, is stamped upside down, but on the right side.
