Is this one of things where I should just buy the 130 or new 66? I really care about how well/easy/fast the actual clamping is accomplished.

Holy cow those things are pricey by the time you get the stuff you actually want. But I don’t want to throw away money buying the 100 or 120 if the clamping mechanism(s) aren’t as good.

Can anybody shed some light on your “progression” through the WE sharpeners? Or, have you been completely satisfied with the base 100 unit?

I have the WE130, WE66, and WE60. I have no experience with the WE100 or WE120. What type of knives will you be reprofiling/sharpening?

^^ Thanks, I’ll mostly be sharpening 3”-4” folders and some kitchen knives (mostly shorter paring knives.

Does the newer WE66 lack in any way that the 130 would be a better choice?

I’ve just heard a few reviewers say they wished they would started with a higher/better version out of the gate as it would’ve ended up saving them $ in the long run.

They all do it, it is the " Oh You Want Fries With That " business principle. The aftermarket add on's mount up to make them very expensive pieces of kit, especially one's with proprietary stones. So do as much of your own research as you can and try and get the feel of what will best suit your needs. Merry Christmas.

The WE60 would be a very good choice. It also depends on how much funds you have available. Also, do you hunt and camp a lot or do you want the sharpener for mainly home use?

I prefer my WE130 mainly because I don't hunt and camp anymore. If I was hunting and camping still and I had the funds I would probably get the WE66. If I was on a tight budget, then I would get the WE60. I love the vise jaws on the WE60. They grip small full flat ground and distally tapered blades really well. I wrote some articles on them here.

That's what I would do if you can afford it. I bought a Pro Pack 3 first and then added everything else as I could afford to.

I only take a handheld portable sharpener hunting/camping. So I guess they redesigned the WE60’s clamp/jaws about 4 months ago. Anybody have experience with the upgrade/improvement?

I was going to mention my thread about the WE60 and WE66, but I see that you already found it.
