Not much available out there that's free....and the few that are seem to be down more than their up.
If your anywhere near serious about a website and hosting, check out the folks at Atlanta Virtual, they host more knifemaker websites than anybody else, and cater to the knifemaker. I've been with them for a few years now and have never had a problem....and when there is something I can't understand, they are always there to help.

Check your internet service provider. Many times, you get a small amount of web space on their server for free. ISP's like road runner and most local dsl providers do the same. I believe roadrunner gives you 5mb storage and a reasonable amount of bandwith.
They usually supply you with basic ftp tools and such but if they don't, there are a lot of them out there for free that can get your stuff/pictures out to their server.
