Which do you think would make a better deer dressing/skinning knife, the anorexic badger attack or anorexic boss street? Why?

Anorexic boss street, because it's cheaper. I like skinny blades for field dressing myself. I actually use a AD. :)

One of those new Hacks would be even better for me. :D

No offense, but IMO, that's like asking, "what is better--a NY strip steak or a ribeye steak?" There is nobody here who has a direct comparison of both knives being used to field dress a deer. If you have both, then just pick one and go with it.

If you have an ABAIII, then you have probably already field dressed a deer since they have long since been discontinued. In that case, try the ABS variety.

If you don't have an ABAIII, then you likely will not find one before deer season is over and again, you'll be "stuck" with an ABS.

I already have an ABAIII and have indeed used it to dress deer. Just wondering how the ABS would compare....

BAIII for sure. I like the blade profile more. More of a drop point, too, IIRC. (It's been a while since I got rid of both my BAIII and ABA.)

BAIII
Not a fan of the (c)abs.

Blasphmey, How can you not like the CABS?

Course if you laid them both on the table, you don't even need to ask which one I am going to grab to keep. BAIII for sure. And not just for the fact that it is rarer and more money. They sure are nice in the hand.

On that note, since I don't have a BAIII or ABA , I sure am Happy I do have a cabs!

One thing to consider, for sure, is that the CABS has a more pronounced guard with the Talon hole. The ABAle and the BAIII looks like it has more edge drop, so that for slicing against a flat surface like a cutting board, you will have an easier time with the edge on the BAIII. (this is what I remember from holding them as well).

shirogane,

Here is a thread I did in 2008 called field to table fare . THere are pics and comparisons of the best little Busse's made at the time and my opinion of them on deer.

The CABS will be high on my list:thumbup:

edit add...it looks like some pics got deleted. Sorry bout that.

THe cabs should be better. The only thing better would be a choiless culteleus. THe cult is my favorite and much easier to maneuver. It is also a lot lighter than aba and that has its advantages if you just drug one out of the woods too cause your hands will already be tired.

Don't get me wrong. I'm happy for those who want them. The BS felt very handle heavy to me and I just really don't care for the shape. I am just not a fan of any of the Street models. Of course I love knives like the ST Ripper, BATAC, Fiddleback Forges Bushies, and the Nessmuk designs. Everyone has preferences and I don't begrudge anyone elses................. much.:p;):D

There is a hole in my heart that only the folder can fill.

If you want to trade your BA3 for one of my ABS just let me know:-) I'm sure I'm not the only person that feels that way.
But seriously, the ABS is a great Super Sharp knife and you should definatly get one when you can.
