Well, HIKV struck again hard this afternoon. I decided I had to have a heavy duty chopper for the collection. I narrowed it down to the 18"AK, CAK, or 18" Ganga Ram. Which would you get, and why? For what it's worth, I decided on the CAK, so I'm mostly taking notes for next time:)

Ganga Ram. Mine has a half-inch thick spine. What more could you want? :D

The Ganga Ram is a different sort of beast. Mine is a little bit short - about 17" OAL, so it might be out-chopped by the right thin 18" AK, but it has a nice balance and falls through wood. Plus, the chakma is extra-stylish.

Softwoods or hardwoods where you live?

As Tohatchi says too...purdy chakma with the Ganga Ram.

SE Louisiana, so we've got a pretty good mix of wood. Green stuff, vines, underbrush, pine, live oak. And with hurricane season coming, you never know what you'll have to chop through. Your roof, maybe. I went with the CAK largely because of it's "tougher than you'll ever be" reputation (and I like Chiruwa handles), but the Ganga is sounding better and better.
