I can get either a Emerson super commander in black plain edge or serrated , or a Microtech ultratech 6 in clip point or tanto. Which would you choose , and why ?

I guess it really depeds on your intended use. I would go with the UT6 cuz I like Microtechs, and really like parachute knives. Not positive, but im inclined to think the UT6 will hold its value better as well as going up in value.

Depends. Do you want to use it, collect it, or what? I personally have been eyeing the MT UT D/E D/A for a while, and would DEFINITELY go with that! Also, check out the DKW Sand Shark. It's another sweet D/A OTF, which is bigger and "tougher" than the MT. (Although the MT will likely never fail you in most anything you could subject it to...just from what I've read here, the Sand Shark is even beefier and stronger than the MT.)

SO, DEFINITELY the MT, but go DOUBLE-EDGE! :D

I'd have to go with the UT D/E...superb MicroTech quality in a really awesome package. As the the Sand Shark...great looking knife that I've heard great things about (but I haven't owned one or held one), but from the looks of it, for me, it's a little on the large size. The MicroTech gives you big performance without the added bulk. JMO

One more thing...

I also do not like the added bulk of the sand shark, and many on here have said it's not really suitable for EDC. The other reason I would prefer the Microtech is that the blade is not so far off-center in the handle as the sand shark.

Also the MT just looks way cooler!
