I have to choose between a Cold Steel SISU Puuko or a Fallkniven Tre Kronor fixed blade knife with a thermorun handle and laminated 3g steel blade. I like them both, can afford only one. Any input would be appreciated. The price is almost identical

Hmmm...let's see, Cold Steal or Fallkniven? I believe that I would go with the Fallkniven. ;)

I'm going to have to go out on a limb here and . . .

Agree with APF. Definitely go with the Fallkniven over CS.

If I were looking for less value for my dollar, I would definitely go for Cold Steel, no doubt...

It would depend on which type I wanted more. A folder or a fixed blade? It looked like the Falkniven was a folder and the CS a fixed blade. Personaly I would get a Falkniven fixed blade but both of those knives you mentioned are probably very nice knives.

Brasman, they are both fixed blades, very similar in size, shape and price. The steel in the fallkniven is better, but the SISU looks good. The worst part is Tactical knives just did an article about the SISU and I want one bad. I am glad I found this forum because I always liked cold steel products but thought Lynn Thompson was a dork. Good to know I am not the only one

I first began to dislike cold steel because of their slow, error riddled website, but i went to a specialty store anyway and held some. I could never get them to balance right in my hand, I personally dislike their plain look, and the handles remind me of a gas station knife i got a few years ago for like 7$.

Anyway- Most definetly get that Fallkniven

In this case, it's the Cold Steel with the real handle and the Fallkniven with the rubber handle. But that thermorun is OK. I like it on my H1. I would trust the Fallkniven steel. Cold Steel seems to be overpriced with their San Mai knives.

If you want to check out the ceneral feel of the Sisu, think about picking up a Finn Bear first. If you decide you don't like it, you're only out a few bucks for a beater.

I like the thermorun fine, got two f1's. Got two finnbears, I like the feel and weight of them. I am not sure if you are allowed to put prices on here but they are both under 200.00 dollars. No way I would pay 400.00 for Sisu

Fallkniven. It will be money well spent. I have 6 Fallknivens and 3 CS Oyabuns (the old ones with aus8 not the 420HC crap). Both of those brands are good perfomers, but I'd say VG-10 is better in edge holding and about par on toughness, but Fallknivens also have a better balance in my hands. If you have a brick and mortar store nearby, try them out first.
