I know these knives are from two different companies and are different beings alltogether, but i'm just wondering what the vote would go for mostly. Here's the competitors:

-Benchmade Griptilian (s30v or d2)
-Spyderco Military (s30v)
-Spyderco Para Military (s30v)

So what do you guys think? I like all 3 equally. I'm just wondering which is more robust. Which heat treat is better? I'll be using it in the woods and around the house. I like the axis lock on the grippy, but i hear that the military is a sweet knife and i like the looks of it and it looks like a nice user.

I can't comment on the Para because I've never even held one.

I have owned a Griptillian and a few Militarys. I don't like that the Griptillian relies on a small spring for the lock and never really cared for the Axis lock anyways even though I know lots of folks love it. I don't think the ergos are as good as most Spydercos either but my main complaint was how thick the handle was. It didn't carry slim in the pocket like My Delica, Sage, Caly3, or Military. Also the handle texture tore my pockets up.

I Like the Military's extra blade length, full flat grind, needle tip, liner lock, slim profile and choil. No comparison really.
That's not to say the Griptillian isn't a good knife. I carried mine exclusively for a year and it was a trusted tool, I just never felt it was perfection.

I would guess all three are in the same toughness category.

When you say using it in the woods... how do you mean? I dont own a military but do own a grip, and I think the grip blade is a tad thicker and not as thin at the tip as the military so it may withstand wood use better. However it seems to me the common opinion is the military F&F is better. Also, for harder uses I would think the grips handle might be more comfortable if the militarys handle is thin like hoopster said. Dont quote me on that though as I dont own a military. Out of all of them my next purchase would be a Para 2.

while the millie can be used in utilitarian tasks the b.m. d2 is a better cutter & edge holder.i sent knarfeng a s30 millie & a b.m. 710 in d2 & on sisal rope the 710 performed better.

I just got a Benchmade Mini Griptillian (154CM steel) in a trade with another member recently.

It is my first BM product and I have been very happy with it, as both a casual edc and an outdoors tool. It is a great companion for my Spirit multitool in any environment. The Axis lock is a great combination of slick opening/closing and solid lock-up, and very easy and safe to use when your second hand is occupied.

I personally don't care for D2 due to its sharpening difficulty, and the one
S30v knife I had was pretty brittle at the edge.

Whittling. Opening Boxes. Cutting twine & fishing line. Maybe cutting open packaging. Normal around the house stuff, plus some light woods stuff. Nothing like batoning or anything like that.
