choose? If you have a choice to carry on a belt, which would you go for the swisstool spirit or the swisschamp xlt. I already have the leatherman wave and was wanting to get another tool to carry along with the wave.

Thanks in advance

If the Wave's two knifeblades are sufficient, I would go with the Spirit since it is more compact and a great compliment to the Wave.

The Spirit was my first Swisstool, and I loved it more than both my original and New Waves, but I couldn't stand the 'butter knife' blade... I know own a full-size Swisstool. It's great, but probably a bit large than I need.

If you care a Wave why would you carry another plier based tool?
I edc an old Champion (without the pliers)...I don't think it is too heavy or bulky...and a Squirt P-4...

In my opinion the xlt (especialy paired with a wave)is overkill.I own a swisschamp and it really sacrifices alot in terms of ease of use and just being handy because of it's size.I personaly would get a vic soldier or tinker, just as a light weight back up for the wave, some thing that handles better for standard knife jobs since you already carry a multi.

When I got my Spirit about two years ago, my original LM Wave got demoted to my briefcase. No regrets.

Rather than carrying two multi tools, why not supplement one multi tool with a dedicated knife, like a good folder or pocket-sized fixed blade?
