Gonna order a zt 0566 pretty soon, should I get the regular g10 or carbon fiber? Carbon fiber is like 15$ more, any benefits besides aesthetics? I checked the weights and it's only .1 ounces lighter than the regular.

Or any other zt y'all can recommend in the sub 200$ range. This is my first zt. Thanks.

Im a Titanium freak and just got the 0450. I prefer CF over G10 but dont really use my knives for tough task's if you do you might lean towards the G10. I also prefer manual flippers but there isnt anything wrong with speedsafe it works fine.

As far as the CF/G10 0566 goes, if you dig the carbon fiber, go for it. An aftermarket CF scale runs significantly mor than the $15 extra. If you don't like the CF, there are many aftermarket scales available, and I would go stonewashed/G10 or blackwashed. I personally dig the blackwash.
I haven't handled a bad ZT, so if another model strikes your fancy, I think you'd be ok. You can always sell it if you didn't like it. My two favs are the 0550 and 0562. Both highly recommended. 0562s MAP is right at $200 but I'm sure you could find one cheaper if you look. 0550s were recently discontinued, but still available...140-170 depending on generation. Bought a new Gen. 3. from kershawguy not too long ago for $165.

There really aren't any bad choices with the current ZT offerings. It depends on what you are looking for though. They have a fair amount of variety among their offerings. What was it that made the 0566 attractive to you? What other knives do you have experience with that you like? And what was it about those that you liked? Or are you looking to try something different from what you're already used to?

Agreed it opened like a rolls Royce.

I just recently picked up a 0620cf off the forums and it was my first knife with carbon fiber, I like the looks of the carbon fiber but I think I prefer the grip G10 offers. I got a great deal on the 0620cf so I'm cool with it, but my conclusion is I would never pay more for carbon fiber over g10. Just my Opinion.

Well, I think I'll go with the 0450 when I can find it from a dealer I want to buy from. Looks to be a good deal for the materials used. I want something to carry that's American made, and I don't feel like an idiot on nights out when I whip out my manbug..which I returned yesterday.. Thanks

Just my two cents, I had the carbon fiber- it was nice to look at but a little too slick for me (the grooves plus the jimping gave me positive retention but when I sweat I just wanted the extra security )

I got the bw version- the cf was much classier- but the bw seems more usable and has a better grip due to the g10.

I'd get the CF....and I think it is pretty cool that the aftermarket scales are supporting the 0566.

I got a black wash 0566, it's designed do you can remove the assist spring which is nice, although if there was an 0450 in store when I made my purchase I may have gone with that, the 0562 Anna 0801 wee both nice, but bigger that I prefer.

I'd say get the carbon fiber 0566 if that's that's you thing. As $15 is rather low as some other brands are around $50 - 75 more than their standard versions. Also,I have to mention this, even though it's a scaled down version of the popular 0560,the elmax blade is slightly thinner and perfect for EDC cutting tasks and not so much for hardcore use.

Sounds like you made your decision, but FWIW, if you get the 566, which I would not hesitate to recommend, and you plan to keep it AO, then go with CF.
BUT, if you plan to de-assist, and I would recommend this (its much smoother), then go with G10 as there is better grip when you press the flipper to deploy the blade.
Stonewash? Blackwash? Your choice!

The only ZT on my hit list is the 0770 - very different to the 0566 but for EDC purpose in a similar wheelhouse...

Worthy of at least some consideration before you pull the trigger.

Ben
