This is just a guess, but I believe it to be a safe one, based on similar situations in the past.
Lynn Thompson founded the Cold Steel company and had about a 40 year history in personally running it.
During that run, the combination of the man and his company, brought forth much innovation & controversy. Through it all, his company also gained a very solid market share and a pretty loyal customer base.
Well, many are thinking that the new GSM CS pricing is inching up, and that may be because GSM has decided to simply make a bigger profit by upping their prices to their vendors, or maybe because the latest manufacturing issues/shortages has forced this uptick in their pricing... (or, maybe, a combination of these two factors).
In any case, the Lynn Thompson era is over, with his last full blown product decisions being made during 2020 while planning his 2021 line up.
So... will the Lynn Thompson era of Cold Steel see a jump in their prices as time goes on, especially in the second hand market?... I would guess, yes.
And, depending on how much change is made to the company and it's products as it goes forward, the Lynn Thompson era products could rise only a little in their prices, or... rise steeply.
If GSM stays pretty true to the pattern of Lynn Thompson's era of running the company, (which is probably unlikely), then the "Old Steel" stuff may not jump up too much in their value. But... if GSM goes full blown chop this and chop that... And, change this and change that... Well, the second hand market for 'Old Steel' (products made during Lynn Thompson's era, including the 2021 offerings that will fall under the transitional period), will likely see a jump in 'Old Steel' collecting that will also cause a jump in 'Old Steel' prices.
I don't think this is some sort of a great prediction here, but more of a likely scenario based on how such things usually wind up going.
Still, this is all just me doing some guessing... But, it will be fun to go back to our posts in the near future to see how close, or far off, we were with these types of guesses
