I'm no expert here but a pilot's emergency bag is designed to keep the guy from dying of hypothermia not provide a comfortble night sleep. It is a multi-purpose device due to restictions on space but is probably heavy for it's warmth. Cheap insurance to throw in the back of the truck or in your car trunk for breakdowns but not much good for camping.

That's interesting. Someone please buy it and review it! I'm already way over-budget on camping/outdoor gear this year...

A "rubberized cover" sounds like a good reason to declare these surplus. That is pretty much a guarantee of condensation inside the bag if the air temp is at or below dew point.

Hey Guys...

Yaa Condensation in the winter isn't a good thing...

We use Surplus US body bags for bivy covers..
They are Frigging Awesome...

Keep all your crap in them and zip it up..
Been using one with scouts for several years..Keeps the bugs and dirt out,,while adding extra warmth at night..

Hey Gibson...

I picked mine up at a surplus store in MI..
They use to carry them all the time, and always figured I'd just pick another up,, but unfortunately they went out of business...

Yes they are unused..

Looking around on Google,, I'm not finding too much...

Heres one of the only links I found..
Not a bad price for what you'd be using for a Bivy bag
