and barlows, barlow, barlows, and looking at my Russell barlow, not to mention getting jealous at the Fight'n Roosters folks have posted... I found this....

The newest addition to my barlow collection, a Fight'n Rooster One Handed Barlow.

The bone is deeply jigged, black in the center fading to a wonderful burgundy on the edges

The point of the main blade is sharper than any other one handed knife I have owned, very distinctive looking and the blade engraving really pops.

The bolster is very handsome as well going from the flat slab to a stepped rounded end.

I am a happy boy....lol.

Very Nice.

No wonder you are happy.

I've never seen one of those before. Thanks for posting the pics.

Absintheur, That's a nice Ole Rooster Barlow. I really like those bolsters like that...

That is one NICE and different Barlow, here is one of a kind. Handles made from G-11 and by MS maker R L Smith.

Beautiful barlow James, love the scales on that one. I think if I ever had a custom made to specs it would be a barlow pattern of some sorts. The shield was one of the things that drew me to this knife. As was the bolster and blade pattern. This barlow incorporated so many different features not common on a barlow I had to gift it to myself. Despite it being considerably larger than my peanut I find myself wanting this one in my pocket, especially when in jeans. Going by the tang marks this is a pre-82 knife but I don't think it was ever sharpened or carried...that is going to change as this is one knife that belongs in a pocket!

I definitely would be carrying that one. I carry mine in my watch pocket, have some others scattered in different pockets as to eliminate bolster scratches. BTW: the reason I chose that handle material is I have a lot of it and sent it to the maker.

Good reason to use that material then...lol. I am still trying to figure out what to do with the carved hippo tusk in the pics with my new barlow. I keep thinking friction folder whenever I hold it...

Absintheur, that is a beautiful razor jack. I have recently learned to really appreciate that style of blade and I carry one almost all the time. I have found that some people freak out pretty bad when I pull one out to use though. And I have to ask about your avatar photo, is that a 625? Very nice. Rotary guns rule.

Im confused. Why is the blade shaped that way? That doesnt look like a very useful tip.

That tip is for cutting meat with one hand and using the point to pick up the cut piece and putting it in your mouth. If the top had a bit of projection it could be hooked on your pocket and opened with one hand. we will be doing both a barlow and a steak knife early next year with that blade done my way.

That is a 625PD (airweight), the knife was made by Ka-Bar and called "The Kid". I am a fan of the round guns....my sig pic tells it all....

AG....I can't wait to see the steak knife...will have to get Dad one for sure...I was going to get him one from Russell's for Men but when I saw the Fight'n Rooster in my post on Dad's Christmas present I knew it was fate...my Mom who passed away this past july always said Dad and I were exactly alike....
