While we are all waiting anxiously for the new sleeves for our Sharpmakers I thought I'd share this.

I bought a DMT DiamondVEE sharpener, used a punch to remove the rods from their base, and mounted them to a solid rod of 3/8" aluminum. Then pinned the rod at the base to prevent it from rotating.

Works like a champ and fits the sharpener base perfect.

IMO diamond sharpeners don't get any better than the ones DMT makes.

Why not just the DMV instead of the sharpmaker

Because the DMV is not adjustable and it's preset to a 20 degree edge. The sharpmaker will do 15 degrees and 20 degrees.
