What knives did you buy or receive to help you get through life without BFC after the first upgrade failure (3/20/04)?

I picked up a small saddlehorn trapper by J.B. Moore from Julie at AZCK. And Tom Mayo emailed to let me know that he would be getting started on my Timascus TNT, soon.

An Aluminum handled SOG Flash 1, and a Bright Red Blackie Collins Joggin' Buddy, with a Hot Pink one on the way.

Oh yeah and a 1984 Yamaha Full Dress Venture.

Went to a gun show, bought a knife from John Greco and also found a good deal on a new large classic Sebenza, my first.

I got an Emerson Karambit in two days ago.
That's it in my avatar. For a bigger pic, click HERE!
I looked at other brands but after owning a waved Commander, I couldn't force myself to get a karambit without the wave.

dsvirsky,

How did you manage to get a timascus TNT out of Tom? He hates working with that stuff and usually only makes them for shows.

I guess he must've been in a good mood (or smokin' the pakalolo :D) on March 10, 2002.

I wasn't aware that Tom hates working with Timascus -- that explains a lot, including Tom asking me if I still wanted the folder.

Hmmm, power goes out in a major city and 9 months later there is a baby boom. BFC goes down and there is a buying boom. Makers take note!

I sure went on a spree; a beautiful redwood burl handled "roughneck" from J. and Tess Neilson, and an incredible "Razel" from Josh Graham of Graham Knives.

May as well have been a power outage; I'm all smiles this week.

A small Sebbie arrived while BF was down. And departed almost immediately. Hard as it was to believe, this Sebenza wasn't perfect: the grinds were slightly uneven, which looked to me like it might weaken the tip. This was my eighth (or ninth?) Sebenza, and the first to have any kind of defect whatsoever. I mentioned it to my vendor, who passed the news along to Anne at CRK. Anne contacted me immediately and asked me to send my new Sebbie in for repairs. Which I did. And now I have to start waiting all over again... :(

I received a Benchmade 705S from a trade...Otherwise I was rolled up onto a fetal ball, wimpering in a corner, trying to access BladeForums every 5 minutes. :D

lets see:

spyderco spyderhawk bladefourums ltd. PE w/ kydex neck sheath
benchmade 940 154cm PE
benchmade outbounder d2/oak ltd ed.
benchmade 710bt PE ATS-34
kershaw mini random task warncliffe PE (in transit)

the mailman's been earning his pay in my neighborhood!

the want list is still long....

Glockman,
You will be proud of me. While suffering the silence I received a Benchmade 705 from New Graham.
What a knife!! It has a reassuring weight for a small knife. A real beauty.
Thanks for your recommendation.

(I'm also a Glock man - a Model 17)

I also received a Benchmade 551, procured for a colleague at work, a Fallkniven WM1 and a pink Spyderco Jester for my wife.

Had to pick up a 1971 Bagwell 10 inch bladed Bowie with Stag grip and brass guards and pommel in like new condition that became available.

This was obviously a safe queen for all those years. Its still not had a stone put to it and though somewhat lacking a great edge, it will stay that way in my safe as well.

Also ordered a Bagwell 6 inch hunter in Damascus that was made some time ago and is pristine as well. That should be here today. When I called Bill Bagwell to inform on the purchases, he mentioned he probably has not made 40 hunters in his carreer. One of the rare ones indeed and I'm fortunate to have scored this for the collection of 4 Bags I presently have.

...Good for you on getting a BM 705 (EXCELLENT little folder!), but a 9mm Glock?...(The 9mm is a girlie caliber.:D.:D.).

Dann, it looks like your Benchmade collection is really taking off. I know you like big knives, so you might want to check out the Benchmade 630, a collaboration with Neil Blackwood. There have been some production hold-ups, but the 630 should be available soon.

I've looked at the 630 "Skirmish" in the catalog, but it doesn't look like the clip is reverseable to the other side :(, so that one isn't one that I'm too interested in.

When I bought it 9mm was the only calibre that Glocks came in!

My Bumps finally arrived - one green (Ser. 0414, Mar. 04) and one blue (Ser. 0235, Dec. 03). The blue one is from the first production run and has the blade shape that everyone is familiar with. The green one is apparently from the second production run and has a revamped blade shape and handle design - the handle edges are tapered.

The framelock on the blue one looks a little iffy. It makes only about 0.5 mm of contact with the tang. I hope Kershaw will have a timely solution. They have a good rep. for customer service.
