I came across this YouTube.

Being a Carpenter, I love timber above all other materials. These trees really are the biggest living things and hands down one of the best and most enduring of Timbers. The guys that fell them are pretty extraordinary also... If you have a spare 10 minutes... Be awe-inspired and Check it out!

great video, thank god they did not fell them all. I have seen those tress in both parts of California and they are the most impressive trees you will ever see in your life.

Unbelievable. I am honestly lost for words. It's so easy to take things for granted now a days. Just look at the amount of work, skill and knowledge they had to use back then just to process some 2x4's that we chop up for fun with our blades today ;):D

Enough lumber from one of these Giants to build 20 houses....

We made sure to go and see them in Yosemite when we were in California a few years ago.... Breathtaking.

Anybody here that is interested in traditional axes, should joint the Axe Junkies group on Facebook. Lots of good info and videos such as this. And it is run by Craig Roost, who helped design the Council Woodcraft axe.

I'd love to get a couple of nice racing axes...

I live smack in the middle of the Redwoods. They are all over the place here in Northern California. I see them everyday and pull the needles out of my hood area of my van in the fall. I am glad they did not cut all of these down. They are really something to see. It is sad too, these trees take a thousand years to mature but man has cut huge swaths into the forest. We don't know what we have until its gone. We are having real issue here now with people using chain saws and cutting the burls out of these trees. Of course in many cases it will kill the tree. All of this just so they can use them for tables and even knife handles. People are driven by money and honestly have no care for nature and what she gives us. Hopefully we wake up before they are all gone. I am not some tree hugger by no means. I was once an avid hunter and fisherman. I just respect nature and love the songs she sings to us if we are willing to listen.
