Whish Spyderco Salt for a friend for boat use

I have a good friend and colleague. Recently he got a new boat. He has all kinds of high tech equipment on boat, but still uses an old dime-store rusty knife. So I decided to give him a decent knife as a gift.

I pretty much made my mind to get him a Spyderco Salt, but am still undecided on which one, and what kind of blade (serrated or plain).

Please note that he won't be able (and probably won't care) to sharpen regularly.

What do you guys think? Would a Salt 1 Serrated Yellow be a good choice?

Thanks,

Arno

Very good way to go and may I add, that's quite some generosity.

I would go for serrated if strictly for boat use...

If he plans on having it on him all the time plain edge has more benefits to it.. just my 0.02$

Also to my experience, serrated has always held a edge longer then a plain edge and always have those teeth to give the extra bite needed even if lightly dull.

You've just described the perfect end user for a SE Salt. Any of the Salt series should do just fine. Kudos to your generosity:)
