Does anybody have the Whisper Daddy Low boy forge from NC.
If so
Is it fast on reheat?
Is 2350 degrees F hot enough to forge weld?
Will this forge reach 2350 degrees F?
Does it work???

TJ,

Try Centaur Forge Blacksmith Supplies at www.centaurforge.com for info on this forge. Also you can contact them via e-mail at info@centaurforge.com

The whisper forges are built more for farriers than Bladesmiths. But if the door arrangement works for you it would be a good forge. I think the best "commercial" gas forge for blades is the Mankel three burner.

You should be able to forge weld at about 2100 F. Either of these forges will do that. I would recommend though, that you get Jim Hrisoulas book "The Complete Bladesmith" and do some reading before you start. It will save you many headaches.

Hope this helps,

GaryB

For the best bladesmithing forge on the planet, call or email Tim Zowada.

If you are getting started and dont want to spend a bunch of money, but want a good working forge, go do Don Fogg's web site. He has a good set of instructions for building your own. It will cost you about $100, the most expensive thing being the liner.

I have one of the "home mades", but when it wears out, i will be calling Tim.

Hey thanks for the info.I have a homemade 1 thats almost dialed in.I'm just tired of working on the darn thing. I'd rather make knives.

Thats why i paid somone $100 to make mine. Took him a week to work out the kinks and get it running well, it was well worth my money for him to build it!

Im really looking forward to one of Tims "ceramic" forges.
