i need a new knife my choices are kershaw ram, composote leek, emerson A100, or mini grip

I was just wondering whitch one has the best combonation of looks lock strength speed of opening and handle ergos? plz help

I don't know anything about the Emerson, but I really don't think you can go wrong with any of them. I have the full-size Grip and it opens very quickly, lockup is great with the axis lock, and the handle is pretty comfortable. The Leek is an extremely popular model and with good reason, the speed safe technology makes the opening extremely fast and lockup, while I haven't used one extensively (I bought a Leek for my dad a few years ago), seems to be strong enough with its liner lock. And I have heard great things about the Ram as well, it is actually on my list of knives to purchase in the near future.

So all in all, I'm sure this post didn't really help all that much, other than to say that you can't really go wrong with any of those.

of the ones you listed i would choose the Mini Grip or the RAM. Both knives look great, function well, and have very similar locks. A plus for the grip is the blade steel is a little better than the steel on the RAM, a plus for the RAM is the handle feels more solid than the one on the grip. I love both knives and carry them both frequently, you cant go wrong choosing either. Good luck, and let us know what you get! :D

thanks... i really need help on whitch one looks better/cooler(im kinda a snob about looks)

RAM, the plastic on the grip feels cheap. People will be asking you about that.

The RAM looks cooler too :D

Composite leek is great for light to medium EDC tasks, and its steel is probably more suited to wear less easily. However, the steel on the RAM does perform better than VG-10 in cutting tests.

If you have smallish hands, get the leek. If you have medium to large hands, the RAM is perfect.

Good luck!

Mini Grip
- the best lock I've ever seen
- fast and smooth opening
- comfortable handle
- lightweight
- 154 CM from Benchmade is very good steel

I would definitely go for the RAM. Absolutely awesome knife, you won't regret it.

Emerson all the way, i believe it to be a higher quality knife than any of the other knives youve mentioned.

but why the A100?

why not get a commander model? one of if not the best folding knife designs of all time, everything oozes quality has beautiful lines, and the wave feature makes it the fastest opening knife you will ever own, i dont know why the commander and emersons in general arent touted more often on this forum they are amazingly good knives. so far i own 3 emerosns and i completley happy with all of them.

im thru with kershaw for now (except the ZT line) and other than balis benchamde holds little appeal to me so ive sold or traded off most of them but my emersons are definate keeper, My emerosn K-bit is my most frequently edc'd knife and thats because its amazing just like all of emersons knives.

get an emerson and you wont be dissapointed.

Mini grip - Judging from these forums, the BM seems like a basic must-own for most knife nuts.

Mini-grip. You'll want one sometime. I was marveling last night at what a nice knife it was.

I'd say if you own no Bms, get the Mini-Grip. If you do own BMs, go with the RAM. Although, I don't believe you can go wrong with any of them.

Mini-Grip :thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

But BM needs to do better jimping.... IF they did, the Mini-Grip would NEVER

be in-stock.

Just my 2cents

Try narrowing down your preferred blade length and go from there. There is a big difference between the Mini-Grip and the A-100 in blade length and blade thickness . For utility, It's the Grip. For coolness, the A-100. Theres my vote.

I really like the lines of the A100, but I have been on an Emerson kick lately. I don't really think you could go wrong with any of your choices.

My two choices as well. I know nothing about the Emerson and not a fan of the Leek design.

As for looks, thats totally subjective. I love my mini grip.
