This piece was somewhat inspired by the Scagle style of stacked leather knives with the deer antler on the butt end. I tried three different antler pieces on the end all the while knowing that I'd finally settle on this one. A slight angle was added to each of the spacer "blocks" to create the radiused arch in the handle.

Blade: 7 1/2"(to the guard) x just over 3/16"(at the ricasso) of hand-forged, clay quenched W2(Aldo) with slight distal taper, flat ground and hand sanded to 1000 grit then etched and polished to reveal a prominent hamon.

Handle: 5 7/8"(top of butt)-4 1/2" (bottom) to the front of the guard, stack pieces of Whitetail Deer antler, White Birch burl, Bloodwood, ebonized Pear, White Birch bark, with two peened copper pins. The guard is hand forged wrought iron with a heavy texturing etch

Sheath: 5/6 oz premium veg tanned leather(W&C) with light tooling, fully lined with brain tanned deer hide. The inlay is a highly polished piece of spalted White Birch heartwood. The antler stud was hand turned on a drill press. The belt loop harness is removable.

Nice one. I like that a lot. Be a more versatile game skinner if it dropped a bit at the tip, but the trailing point is cool.
Darcy:)

I really like the flow and proportions of that one. Great sweep to the blade. Very nice.

awesome combination of material. Love it!

I think this is my favourite so far. I have been eyeing the Scagel designs and you've really done a fine job with this piece. Love the stacked birch!

"Stunning" would be an understatement, Peter. I've always been a sucker for stacked/antler combos and this is one of the finest examples I've ever laid eyes on.
