After doing a long search, I came up empty. What year, or years, was the white box with gold lettering produced? Were they used for regular production, or limited editions?
I presume they were used for several models, but can't find any reference to them.

I can't find it either. We know they were used for the early LB-7 knives almost until the end of serial numbers. They were revived for some later DU, RMEF, QU, and other SFO issues simply because they were easy to custom print inhouse with gold foil lettering.

I have a standard LB 7 in a white box. I assumed it came after the wood colored one.

I have never seen an LB-7 in a woodgrain box. The earliest ones I have seen were in the white box. I believe, though might be wrong, that the preceeding Uncle Henry boxes were leather grained, not wood grained. Those were for Old Timers such as the 98OT Ramrod (1982 - 1997) which was just purchased for $15 (and $15 ship) under the Fairness To Codger Doctrine.

I believe these boxes... with their blue foam trays... went by the wayside circa 1984/5 with the introduction of the tan/black Sharp Idea boxes. The UH knives had previously been in these leather grained boxes with red foam trays such as this previous acquisition under the "Even A Blind Hog Doctrine"

Until the followed their Old Timer brothers in 1984-85 into the gray/black stripe Sharp Idea boxes.

So... as far as I can tell, the LB-7 UH never came in either box. They were in this one like the #352153 which might date from 1978/79:

Or like this later one which deleted the logo text like #AX23517

Before going themselves into the gray/Black Stripe Sharp Idea boxes.
