Guys, I'm ordering a custom knife and am having a hard time deciding on handle material. I'd really like something that is pure white or close to it. Ivory or white micarta would be great but I've heard that it is really hard to keep clean. The knife will be a user so I'm hesitant to get this material. What would you guys suggest?

Ivory micarta isn't a big deal to keep clean. Just wipe it down with soap and water and it looks as good as new. It is much easier to keep clean if it is taken to a high grit finish, and waxed.

I haven't used white micarta. I guess I didn't realize there was a difference.

Preban elephant ivory. Yes the real thing. Its been used for centuries and cleans easy and stays white. It also doesnt lose its value in time.

Its very durable. Elephants have used it for everything for their entire life :D

Yes really it is great on a knife for EDC but if you abuse your knives you need to use micarta.

I think a person needs some bragging rights if he chooses to carry a custom made. Why not carry a classy piece and treat it with respect. I buy most of mine on Ebay from David Warther Museam. He offers the proper proof origin papers.

I don't abuse my knives at all. The knife I'm getting is a smaller knife so it won't see heavy use anyways. Will the ivory break/chip if I drop it?
