i want to use something white as part of the scales on dual colored scales and was wondering what yall thought would work out best. ive seen some white ivory that appeared very white, but havent really ever seen much faux ivory. i understand that Koval's is pretty nice. cant really afford the real stuff.

not familiar with corian...did some searching and it seems to be a countertop/cutting board material? my concern with the white holly is that it might stain if exposed to blood. only used woods for scales in the past and wasnt sure how the faux ivory works out.

I worked with Corian for years installing kitchens, it's some pretty tough stuff
same color all the way through and doesn't stain.
I've made quite a few knife handles out of it with no problem, the only thing that bugs me about it is that it is man made and doesn't mellow with age.

I have some Corian joint adhesive in a variety of colors for anyone interested.
It mixes like a two part epoxie and does a good job on inlays

not being familiar with corian....does it look like plastic? id rather have the look of wood, or a fake ivory......maybe even white micarta

corian comes in about 122 dift colors and there are some
off-whites that resemble bone pretty closely.

It is a pleasure to work with, will last 4ever, doesn't stain etc etc.
Feel real nice in one's hands too. Give it a try :)

Get some pieces in 1/4" thickness

You can get sample pieces that are about 3 inches square from the showrooms of places that sell and install kitchen countertops. Great Indoors has them. I think even some Home Depot and Lowes stores have them.

it'd be two pieces, 1.25x1.25, 1/4" thick. if you have any little pieces like that i could look at and try, that would be great.

Try Tombstone Gun Grips on E-Pay. This guy has faux ivory scales in white and aged ivory. He sent me a sample, the stuff is light and easy to work. The aged ivory looks pretty good too.
