In preparation for the Ohio Classic, I made up another White Iron Hunter, with a slight variation or II!
This one is made in a fixed assembly design, and I filed in a finger purchase.
Basically the same knife.
Forged from heavy stock 5160, selectively hardened, but I did an 800 hand rubbed finish instead of the etch.
Early 20th Century Bakelite for a solid grip!
(I tossed in the White Iron Hunter to illustrate the differences)
Just an honest working knife - with soul.

I do not like the Bakelite handle. I do like everything else about it though.

the finger groove is a nice addition. I like the bakelite!

I Like the Bakelite and the finger notch I thought it was bone when I first saw it. very nice.

The bakelite handle looks very nice. Overall it looks like a great user.

Nice job Karl,
I too like the finger purchase . It adds a lot of dimension to the piece. The bakelite is fine too... If you are into that!
I am a wood kind of guy, so my opinion on that is not really fair..

Nice job!!

Very nice. Bakelite is cool. I like other colors better than the butterscotch. There are a lot of bakelite collectors. I've seen various items fetch surprising MOUNTS of $$$ at a flea market I like to attend.

I agree with Steven on this.

Hope to see you at the Ohio Classic.

Hey, thanks for all of the great comments -some in favor and some not.
I think its fantastic how the knife world is so diverse.
There is a customer for every knife maker and a maker for every customer.

I like the wood handled one. The bakelite is just not my thing. (although it was invented by and named after a fellow Belgian!)

Kind regards,

Jos
