I did a search and did not find a lot of information on White River Knives on the forum. I was looking for a neck hanger for this upcoming winter. I find it a pain fumbling for a pocket knife when you are dressed for cold conditions snowshoeing or ice fishing. My everyday carry is a Spyderco Manix2 Black G-10 Black Blade PlainEdge Knife. I like the three inch blade. The White River knife & Tool Backpacker Hunting is made of the same blade material as the Spyderco Manix S30V.
What other brands would you recommend in the $100.00 price range that are made of good steel and could be worn around the neck with a Kydex Sheath?
Thanks

The White River Backpacker is an excellent knife, with a good Kydex sheath. The weight is still OK for neck carry. But there are many alternatives :

Just some of mine :

In the same size :

Becker D'Eskabar (D2) (usable FRN sheath)
Fällkniven Kolt (LamCos) (very good Zytel sheath)
Blackjack 155 (154 CM) (mediocre FRN sheath)(the lightest of these three)

Smaller :

Böker Nessmi (S30V) (leather sheath)
Fred Perrin Mini Bowie (12C27) (good Kydex sheath) (very light)
Evans Knife and Tool Companion (S35V) (very good Kydex sheath)(light : perfect necker)

Bigger :

Fred Perrin Street Bowie (12C27) (good Kydex sheath) (very light for a 4" 1/5 blade !)
