So still using what I learned from you all here and wanted to say thanks!

Wet molded it and baked it ala Horsewright ( I too like how it hardens the leather). Retention is great as there is an internal "nub" it rides along as well as good retention from side pressure.

Didn't get to try out my basket weave stamps as I glued the halves out if order whoops!

very cool and also very clean stitching, i like the look of it! can you show a picture of the backside as well?
 
Very neat work and needs to be with that white thread - one misplaced stitch would 'jump out' at you
