Hello all!

O.K. some time ago I posted a thread about whittling, and got some excellent advice. I strarted with just an old timer middleman, and now have a flexcut fixed blade which is great (only cost like $17). These two knives make a nice whittling combination. Now, after 8 stitches and a few chains and ball in cages, I have another question...

I was looking at woodcraft.com and found a knife made by Flexcut called the Carvin' Jack. Its basically a slipjoint with several wood carving blades. Here is a link:

So my question is, has anyone actually bought one of these and what do they think of them?? They are not cheap at $129.99 so I dont want to just buy it without finding out a bit more about it.

Any comments or reviews would be appreciated. Also, feel free to post any cool whittling projects as well. It is always fun to see what others are doing. Thanks!!

Robert, It's funny you ask about this, just the other day I was in a whittling shop near me and they had one of these I looked at. It was a very well made knife, seemed very sturdy and had an assortment of good carving blades. It was a little wider than most slipjoints, and a rather large frame, but if I were in to carving, I would invest in this one. It was a little higher priced than I thought it would be, but I think it was made well enough to be worth it.
You really should look at one if you can, I think you will be impressed.

Thanks for the reminder, I wanted to look into those back when I first heard of 'em a while back. If Woodcraft offers them, they're more'n likely not junk, probably more than decent.

I Googled the name and found a place with 'em for $105 pretty quick.

Just started carving again and now I've got a new gadget to get!

I've had one since around the first of the year. Well made and quite useable. It holds an edge well and comes with a strop shaped to fit the various tools. Check one out, I think you'll like it.
