Mine has been getting a workout today. ;):D

It’s carved up a roast beef, leg of pork, a large corned beef and a leg of ham.

I was wondering if I was going to need the XXX Nick as a back up, but apart from a couple of light swipes on a smooth steel it’s still shaving sharp.

Cheers,
Ian. :D

very cool. I don't have one but I wish I did. My wife would never give it back though:thumbdn:

Funny story about that:

I work at a DOE facility that handles "special nuclear material". As a result, we have pretty stringent security measures in place. All items go through xray scanners and you have to walk through a metal detector. It's just like going flying, except I do it coming and going, each day.

Last week, my group decided we were going to cook a prime rib. I called the guard force from home and asked if I could bring a knife for cutting the meat. "Sure, as long as it doesn't have a point." No problem, thinks me. I'll take the XXXL NICK and Bob's my uncle. You would have thought I was trying to smuggle in a small thermonuclear weapon.

Me: "You said I could bring in a knife as long as it had no point"

Security Captain: "I meant something like a bread knife."

Me: "Why would I use a bread knife for prime rib?"

After much hand-wringing on their part, they let me take it in. It made VERY short work of a 20 pound prime rib. The meat was superb.

Oh, and no cameras allowed, so you'll have to paint this story with your imagination.

Massive overkill here.

NICK verses a Spiral Cut Ham.

NICK (Drunk as usual) Figgers he all ready dealt with Mister Hammy all proud of himself for how much he cut without any pieces falling off.

I will spare his pride and not tell him it was pre-sliced.(not a good idea to uset INFI,cause some times INFI gets "Hungry)

It's pretty lame, but I have both NICKS, and I've never used either one. My Henckles are still doing their job just fine. Some day I'll use them...........

Mines in the drawer and brought out for the heavy stuff, or to frighten friends/neighbors.

I use my XXXL all the time... it excels at cutting everything from meat to veggies... and while my Fiancee thinks I am nuts, she has to admit it works very well.

Just used my XXXL NICK to prep a couple of venison tenderloins. After making nice cuts, I flipped it over and lightly tapped the cuts with the thick spine to tenderize and flipped it back over and used the tip to tap a few tenderizing holes. It worked great:thumbup:

Who ISN'T using their NICKs?

Awhile back, I gave my wife 3 knives for her to use in the kitchen. A Howling Rat, Bog Dog, and a ZTNO. The ZTNO was by accident. I had left it out and when she asked if she could use it, I had to tell her it was just a $50 knife and to go right ahead. What's a Hog to do? Lie Baby, lie! LOL

Anyway, after 1 1/2-2 years of all being in the knife drawer, she marches up to me waving the Bog Dog around and pronounces "THIS is MY knife". Ok, not a problem, I get my HR and ZTNO back. Not as pretty, but not damaged, very much.

Now, she has hers and I want mine. She uses her knive like a paring knife, I want something that I can replace my POS Chefs knife with. I like to mince and chop, and the ZTNO is just sort of so so in that regard. Try mincing garlic with it and you will understand.

I really think I need a skinny NICK. Anyone agree?

Rob

I use my NICK almost daily. It's the first knife I grab when prepping dinner. My XXL NICK, however, hasn't seen as much use. In the kitchen I like thin steel.

Cheers,
BJB :D

Now I just need to figure a way to swap the ZTNO for a thin NICK.

I have a meat cleaver, I want a veg-o-matic for the fine work. LOL
